Didn't sleep well last night? Here's a simple technique to feel better

We might not realize or know but sleep plays a heavy role in our well-being. After food, it is the second factor that determines our physical and mental health. But in today's fast urban lives, many of us are deprived of a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Be it work, over-exposure to smart phones, the desire to binge watch the new exciting and web-series or something else, we have put sleep on the backseat. A lot of us are even aware of the importance of a good sleep but we keep delaying when it comes to taking care of our sleep habits.

While it is a long-term process to completely change our sleeping cycle, here is a short-term solution to make you feel better after a bad night of less or no sleep through the process of pranayam.

We generally feel that pranayam breathing exercises is of only one type - inhaling and exhaling slowly. But there are various types of pranayams and we are going to learn one of them which makes your head feel lighter after a bad night.

Follow these steps:

-- Sit with your legs crossed and your back absolutely erect

-- Exhale slowly and fully and close both your nostrils with your right thumb and third finger.

-- Remove your third finger from your left nostril and slowly inhale from there. Lower your head and count 5

-- Put your head up. Remove your third finger from your left nostril and slowly breathe out. Be careful to keep your right nostril closed with your thumb

-- After exhaling fully, once again slowly inhale from your left nostril while keeping your right nostril closed with your thumb.

-- After inhaling fully, once again repeat the whole procedure (close your left nostril, bow your head, count 5, put your head up and then slowly exhale from your left nostril)

-- Do this 10-12 times

Good morning :)

As mentioned above, the ultimate goal should be to completely change your sleeping cycle and get at least 7 hours of sleep by trying to sleep before 12. It's never too late to start.
